Update from The NET:East High School

Dear NET:East Families,

On Wednesday, November 20th, there were shots fired near the New Orleans East Opportunity Center. All students and staff are safe. However, many students were outside, as it was dismissal time, and it was an upsetting and frightening moment.

NOPD responded promptly and the individuals involved have been identified.

In order to give staff time to process the incident and create support plans for students, the NET:East will be closed for classes on Thursday, November 21st.

We will re-open on Friday, November 22nd with additional security and mental health services on campus.

All other programming at the NOEOC will continue as normal for the remainder of the week.

All staff will be available tomorrow to answer questions and provide support, and in the meantime, please reach out with any questions.  Your child’s safety and welfare is the most important thing to us and is always at the forefront of our work.

Sincerely,

Kina Lee, Principal Elizabeth Ostberg-Davis, CEO
